Holbox Whale Sharks

Whale SharkEvery year from June to September, the quaint little island of Holbox off Yucatan Peninsula in Mexico celebrates the arrival of whale sharks in the nearby waters. Snorkeling with the gentle giants is an experience of a lifetime. Our whale shark operator is so confident that you will snorkel with whale sharks that he will give you your money back if you don’t see any! Other marine life you are likely to encounter are pods of dolphins and large rays. Holbox Island is a perfect location for a family vacation with teenagers, and an excellent addition to dive trips to Cozumel.

FlamingoHolbox Island is fifteen miles long and about just over mile wide oasis without cars or crowds. The sandy white beaches are perfect for sunbathing, swimming and shell collecting. The resident dolphins and turtles are here year around and the bird island sanctuary host 40,000 pink flamingos from April to October. Apart from snorkeling with whale sharks and enjoying the laid-back island life, you can also kayak around the mangroves, visit the bird sanctuaries, and rent a golf cart to tour the island. Excursions to the mainland, including the Mayan ruins of Chichen Itza, Coba and Tulum and shopping trips to Playa del Carmen are available.
